1. Summary
RedactRoom is an app for Mac, iPhone and iPad that helps you cover details in images, PDFs and text before you share them.
- Images, PDFs and text you open in RedactRoom are processed on your device.
- RedactRoom has no account and no server.
- We do not receive your documents, your text, your settings or information about how you use the app.
- Purchases and restores are handled by Apple through the App Store.
RedactRoom's suggestions can miss details. Review the clean copy yourself before you share it. RedactRoom does not make a document anonymous.
2. What RedactRoom processes, and where
When you open, paste, drop or import an image, PDF or text, RedactRoom reads the text in it with Apple's on-device text recognition, looks for the kinds of details you chose, and lets you review the suggestions, add your own areas and make a new clean copy. This processing uses Apple frameworks that run on your device. RedactRoom does not send your content to us or to any other service for processing.
A review is held in memory only and is discarded when you finish or discard it, unless you choose Keep (section 4).
When RedactRoom makes a clean copy, it writes a new image or PDF from the covered result, removes image metadata such as location, camera details and capture dates, and then reads the new file back to check it. Covered areas are solid blocks; a block's size can still show roughly how long the covered text was.
3. What RedactRoom stores on your device
RedactRoom stores the following only on your device, inside the app's own storage:
- Preference sets, custom terms, allowed terms and saved patterns that you create. They stay until you delete them.
- The free-export count. One number, with no identifiers. It stays until the app is deleted.
- Purchase status. A single "owned" flag for the unlock. Apple's StoreKit keeps its own record of your purchase.
- Temporary files created while you save or share a clean copy or while RedactRoom reads a file you chose. They are removed when the action finishes or at the next launch.
RedactRoom does not log the content of your documents and does not index them in Spotlight.
4. Kept reviews
- If you choose Keep, RedactRoom saves that review (the source and your review decisions) in the app's storage on this device so you can finish it later.
- A kept review is deleted 24 hours after you keep it, or earlier if you discard it. At most 10 are kept.
- Kept reviews are excluded from device backups.
- RedactRoom never keeps a review unless you choose Keep.
5. What you share, and where it goes
A clean copy leaves RedactRoom only when you choose Save, Copy, Share or Save to Photos. Where you send it is outside RedactRoom's control; the destination app, cloud drive or recipient handles it under its own terms.
- Photos. RedactRoom asks for permission to add images only, and only when you choose Save to Photos. If iCloud Photos is on, the new image may sync to your other devices.
- Clipboard. On iPhone and iPad, a copied clean copy is marked for this device only and expires after a short time. On the Mac, copied items are marked for this Mac only; clipboard history apps on your Mac may still record them.
- Receipts and support details. RedactRoom can prepare an optional export receipt and optional support details. Both are built on your device, describe the app and the checks it ran rather than your document, and can be inspected before you save or share them. RedactRoom does not send them anywhere.
- Shortcuts. The "Review in RedactRoom" action opens an item for review in RedactRoom and returns nothing to the shortcut. The Shortcuts app may keep its own record of the shortcut and its input.
6. Purchases
- RedactRoom is a free download. You can unlock unlimited exports with a one-time in-app purchase.
- The App Store handles the purchase, the restore and your Apple Account. We do not receive your payment details or your Apple Account information.
- To check the purchase, RedactRoom gives Apple's StoreKit only the product identifier. Apple's system services may contact Apple's servers for that check. Purchase checks never include your images, PDFs or text.
7. Support
If you write to us at support@intelliblitz.com, we use your message only to answer it and we do not share it. Please describe the problem with a made-up example. Do not send a sensitive document.
8. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, through the app, your name, email address or other contact details; device or advertising identifiers; location; usage analytics; or crash or diagnostic data. RedactRoom includes no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
If you choose to share crash reports with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may provide those reports to us. They are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
9. Services the operating system provides
Your device's operating system provides some services RedactRoom does not control, such as iCloud backup of other app data, iCloud Photos, Universal Clipboard, Spotlight and system search of files you save outside RedactRoom, screen recording and mirroring, and the app-switcher preview. Deleting a file on modern storage does not guarantee that earlier data is physically erased; RedactRoom relies on the operating system's file encryption and on not writing your content to storage unless you ask it to.
10. Limits you should know about
- Suggestions can miss details: handwriting, faint or decorative text, text that cannot be read reliably, and text in languages other than English. Coverage is measured for English only.
- RedactRoom does not suggest faces. Add a manual area over any face you want to cover.
- Suggestions for avatars, signatures and passport or ID code lines are only prompts to check. They are never reported as checked.
- Partial covering and replacement labels keep some information visible on purpose. Labels keep matching items linked within a document; they do not make it anonymous.
- A clean copy that you share can be copied further by its recipient. RedactRoom cannot recall it.
11. Children
RedactRoom is not directed to children and collects no personal information from anyone.
12. Changes
If a future version changes what this policy describes, we will update this policy and its effective date before that version is released.
